Worship – Traditional Service

Traditional Service – 8:30

This service features a variety of traditional and recent hymns led by organ accompaniment and offers a wide variety of vocal and instrumental music during the Message in Music and Offertory. Don’t miss hearing the Chancel Choir, plus Youth and Adult Bell choirs from September through May, and many solos and small ensembles that lift praise and adoration to God each Sunday on a rotating schedule.

Chancel Choir

This adult and teen mixed-voice choir is open to all who wish to participate. From September through May, Chancel Choir sings 2 weeks per month at the 8:30 a.m. service, and rehearses on Thursdays from 6:30-8:00 p.m. They are joined with other singers and instrumentalists for holiday services and special events such as the annual Spring cantata, which averages 80 participants. More singers are welcome.

This group also leads projects such as caroling for annual Christmas tours at Quiet Valley Historical Farm, sing-alongs at homes for senior residents, and uplifting entertainment for social events in the church and community as invited.

Bell Choirs

Youth and Adult Bell Choirs play one Sunday per month September through May in both the 8:30 and 10:45 services. Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings: Youth at 6 5:30-6:15, Adults at 6:30-7:30. Music is 3-octave arrangements of traditional and recent sacred songs, sometimes in ensemble with other instruments, and using various hand bell techniques. A 2-octave Chime Choir for beginners from 4th grade up is expected to resume in September.

Brass, woodwinds, strings, and timpani often play as needed in ensemble with vocal groups or the bell choirs in either or both 8:30 and 10:45 services. Interested teens and adults may contact the Director of Traditional Music.
