Personal Support

Personal Support at ESUMC

Our Congregational Care Team partners with the Pastoral Staff and the Director of Congregational Care to attend to many needs of our church members and attendees.

We offer support by calling, visiting, and sending cards to those who for one reason or another find themselves homebound, experiencing difficulties, or separated from the church family while they attend college or serve in the military. We partner with several ministries to assist felt needs that need immediate attention and provide ambulatory equipment to those healing from surgery.

For more information, please contact Ann LeFevre, Director of Congregational Care, at alefevre@esumc.net.

GriefShare

When a loved one dies, it can feel like you’re alone. Many people have trouble understanding how painful and isolating your grief can be. But that doesn’t mean you have to suffer by yourself. GriefShare support groups offer a safe, comforting place where you can talk with others about your grief. You’ll find support, direction, and guidance on how to make it through. The 13 week program includes video teachings on subjects like Sadness & Loneliness, Questions for God, and Hope and Resilience, and a personal workbook with further insights and tools to help you navigate your journey with grief. ESUMC runs Grief Share two to three times a year. Our church office will be able to provide you with any information and scheduled meetings. 570-421-3280

Stephen Ministry

What is Stephen Ministry?
Stephen Ministry Is Christ Caring for People Through People. It is a one-on-one Christian Caring Ministry in which trained and supervised lay persons, called Stephen Ministers, walk beside adults who are facing difficult times such as divorce, loss of a loved one, illness, and life struggles of all types.

A Stephen Minister is a member of our congregation who listens, cares, encourages, and provides emotional and spiritual support to people in our congregation and community who are experiencing challenges in life. A Stephen Minister IS NOT a counselor or therapist, problem solver, or casual visitor.

Stephen Ministry is a confidential ministry. The identity of those who receive care, and what takes place in the caring relationship remains private.

Our Stephen Ministry is currently on hiatus, but Stephen Ministers and Stephen Leaders who have been trained in the Stephen Ministry still take part in the prayer ministry on Healing and Blessing Sundays. Members who feel they would benefit from the Stephen Ministry program are referred to other area churches who have an active Stephen Ministry in operation.
